The Aurora University women's lacrosse team rolled to their second consecutive win and first in the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference Saturday afternoon on Vago Field with a 20-6 win over Illinois Institute of Technology.
AU got on the scoreboard early and often with sophomore
Kenny Hughes scoring twice in the first 1:41 for a 2-0 lead.
Chloe Madison assisted on the second goal.
Lexie Wright made it a 3-0 advantage just over 30 seconds later with an assist coming from
Lauren Whitfield.
The visiting Scarlet Hawks answered with a pair of goals sandwiched around an
Andrea Colford unassisted goal which saw the Spartans leading 4-2 with 20 minutes remaining in the first half.
AU would score the games next 10 tallies with nine coming in the first half. Scoring for the Spartans in the 9-0 first half run were
Rachel Cochran (four times), Hughes (twice), Wright, Colford and Madison. Colford, Hughes and Wright each added an assist on a goal as well.
Going into halftime, AU led 13-2 with the running clock enacted with the 10-goal advantage.
The second half had a slower start to it with neither team scoring until over five minutes had run off the clock. AU freshman
Taylor Arcivar tallied the goal with an assist from Cochran.
IIT scored the games next two goals to cut the AU lead back to 10 at 14-4 before the Spartans rattled off two more goals, a free position score from
Danielle Morgan and Cochran scored her fifth with an assist from Colford.
In the final 10 minutes of play, both teams scored with AU scoring four times and IIT twice for the final score of 20-6. AU scorers included Hughes, Morgan (Hughes assist), Colford and freshman
Emily Kearns scored her first collegiate tally.

Allee Samuel picked up the victory with five saves. With the win, AU is now 2-3 overall and 1-0 in the MWLC. Next action for the Spartan women's lacrosse comes on Mon
day, March 23 when they host Beloit College. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m. on Vago Field.
