The Aurora University volleyball program hosted the 14th annual Jim Coleman Memorial Classic and finished the four game, six team classic with a 3-1 record.

AU opened the classic on Friday, September 11 with a 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-22) victory over Wheaton College (Mass) before falling to nationally ranked University of Chicago 3-0 (21-25, 16-25, 21-25).

On Saturday, September 12, AU took on a pair of Iowa Conference foes in Simpson College and Central College. AU swept Saturday, defeating Simpson 3-1 (25-21, 18-25, 25-21, 25-20) and Central 3-0 (25-23, 25-23, 25-18).

By going 3-1 over the two days, AU finished second to Chicago and placed two student-athletes on the All-Tournament Team. Junior outside hitter Peyton McKenzie and sophomore outside hitter Lauren Marsh both were recognized for their strong play over the two days with All-Tournament honors.

With the 3-1 record on the weekend, AU is now 4-4 overall in 2015. Next action for the Spartan volleyball team comes on Tuesday, September 15 when they host Wisconsin Lutheran College in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference season opener. Match time is set for 7:00 p.m. in Thornton Gymnasium.
