The Aurora University volleyball Spartans opened the 2015 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference schedule on Tuesday night in Thornton Gymnasium against Wisconsin Lutheran College. AU would win 3-0 but two of the three sets were close fought contests.

HOW IT HAPPENEDThe Spartans won the first set 25-23 despite trailing late in the set.
The Spartans jumped out to an early lead in the second set and won 25-17
The Spartans held on to take the third set 25-21 for the 3-0 win.

BEYOND THE BOX SCOREAU had a big advantage in the serving game with eight aces to one for WLC.
The Spartans had a positive hitting percentage in all three sets.

FOR THE SPARTANSPeyton McKenzie led AU with 16 kills and eight serving aces.
Destiny Stuersel led with 28 assists.

UP NEXTNext action for the Spartan volleyball team comes on Friday, September 18 when they travel to Illinois Wesleyan University for the Baker Classic. Game one is set for 3:30 p.m. against Illinois Wesleyan with the second game against Anderson University at 5:30 p.m. in Bloomington, Illinois.
