The Aurora University volleyball program traveled to Illinois Wesleyan University for a weekend tournament and finished the four -game, two-day tournament with a 2-2 record.
AU went 1-1 on both Friday and Saturday. On Friday, September 18, the Spartans opened with a 3-0Â
(21-25, 14-25, 18-25) loss to Illinois Wesleyan before knocking off Anderson University 3-1
(25-21, 25-23, 11-25, 25-20).
On Saturday, September 19, AU took Franklin College and Grinnell College. AU again went 1-1 on Saturday, falling to Franklin 3-1
(25-22, 18-25, 22-25, 26-28) and rebounding to defeat Grinnell 3-0 (26-24, 25-15, 25-14).
Sophomore outside hitter Lauren Marsh was recognized for her strong play over the two days with All-Tournament honors, her second in as many weekends. She averaged 2.80 kills and 4.20 digs per set over the four games.
With the 2-2 record on the weekend, AU is now 7-6 overall and 1-0 in the NACC in 2015. Next action for the Spartan volleyball team comes on
Wednesday, September 23 when they host Alverno College. Match time is set for 7:00 p.m. in Thornton Gymnasium.
