The Aurora University women's soccer team opened the third annual Chelsea Lloyd Memorial Classic with a 2-0 win over the University of Dubuque on a hot afternoon on Vago Field.

HOW IT HAPPENEDAU jumped out to a 1-0 lead late in the first half with a goal by senior
Nicci Bermudes,
Alisha Oseguera. Dubuque pressured AU in the second-half but Spartan sophomore goalkeeper
Caitlin deRuiter had seven saves including several key ones in the second-half for the shutout win. With just over 10 minutes to played in the game, Bermudes scored her second of the day on a free kick from 30-yards out, just outside the box.

NOTES OF INTEREST- Bermudes broke the career goal scoring record with her two goals. She surpassed Chrissy Pluchinsky (1995-1998) and now has 74 goals.

FOR THE FOES- Katie Lynn led Dubuque with six shots including two on goal.
- Dubuque out-shot Aurora 15-8, 7-6 in shots on goal.
- Goalkeeper Paige Dykstra kept Dubuque in the contest with many diving saves and finished with four on the day.
