Spartan men's basketball to host MS Day on January 30

On Saturday, January 30 when the Aurora University basketball teams take on Edgewood College in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference doubleheader, the Spartan men's basketball program will be hosting a special event to raise awareness for Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

For the second year, the event is being spearheaded by AU men's basketball assistant coach Lance Robinson, who has first-hand experience on the severity of MS, the day's events are being held in honor of his mother Diane Robinson who battled the disease and sadly passed in August 2014.

"We were very pleased with the fundraising and environment of last year's game and we will be doing things this year a little different as the funds raised from this year's event will go to a family that is effected by MS. I felt the game last year against MSOE brought a lot of awareness to the disease and was fun day for all involved and I appreciated everyone's help and support," said Robinson. "I don't know if we can top last year's game from a dramatic standpoint. I will forever have the memory of Kalmon (Stokes) releasing the game winning shot in my mind because it was in front of a person who was in a motorized car, just like my mom and similar spot where she watched the games in Thornton. We look forward to this year's game and a quality opponent in Edgewood College."

The men's game will tip-off at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday January 30 with the women's game following with a 4:15 p.m. tip-off in Thornton Gymnasium. Items will be raffled off on the day of the event which include several Chicago sport teams memorabilia and funds from the raffle being donated. Those unable to attend the event and wish to donate to the cause can donate here.

Anyone interested in purchasing (donation)  a t-shirt for the day's event can contact AU assistant coach Lance Robinson at lrobinso@aurora.edu.
