Streak at six for AU men with win over Dominican

The Aurora University men's basketball team extended their win streak to six games with a 96-79 win on Thursday night in Thornton Gymnasium. Seniors Chris Fritsch (double-double) and Tyler Hall led the Spartans in the victorious effort.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Spartans open the game up on an 11-2 run.
Dominican battled back and by the midway mark of the first half they were only down by two points (25-23).
From this point of Aurora gradually increasing the lead to as much as 11 before taking a 53-45 lead into half.
The Spartans opened up the second-half with defensive intensity and a 12-7 run to lead by 13 just 4:34 into the second session.
A three-point field goal by freshman Matt Dunn gave the Spartans a 75-59 lead midway through the second-half.
AU maintained a double-digit lead for the rest of the game and went on to win by 17, 96-79.
 
FOR THE SPARTANS
Chris Fritsch led the Spartans with a double-double of 21 points and 17 rebounds.
Tyler Hall recorded a game-high 27 points along with four assists.
Jovon Griffin had 14 points on 7-of-9 shooting
 
FOR THE FOES
Tim Robertson led the Stars with 22 points, seven rebounds and three assists.
Josh Mayberry scored 22 points and had three assists. He surpassed 1,000 career points in the game.
 
UP NEXT
Next action for the Spartan men's basketball team comes on Saturday, January 16, 2016 when they host Wisconsin Lutheran College. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m. in Thornton Gymnasium.
