The Aurora University women's basketball opened the 2016 season at Wisconsin Lutheran College and took a lead into the fourth quarter against the tough Warrior club but the Spartans upset effort came up just short as AU fell 63-57.

HOW IT HAPPENEDThe Spartans led 16-14 at the end of the first period.
AU continued to lead the Warriors in the second period, having the lead for the first nine minutes of the session before going into halftime trailing 32-29.
The third period played out like the first-half with the teams battling back and forth.
A three-pointer with four seconds left in the third from
Bethany Dorrington gave AU a 48-45 lead.
The fourth period saw the two teams trade baskets and with four minutes to play, AU led 53-52.
WLC went seven of eight from the free throw line in the final 3:13 as AU went 0-5 from the field in that time frame.
The Spartans would come up short in the contest, losing 63-57.

FOR THE SPARTANSAnna Roszkowski had a double-double of 18 points and 14 rebounds.
Bethany Dorrington had 16 points.
FOR THE FOESJen Dowden had 21 points.
Karisa Pedersen had 15 points.
