The Aurora University Spartan hockey team battled the nationally ranked University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire and fell 3-2. Power play goals once again played a big part in the contest.

The teams played to a scoreless and even played first period.
Midway through the second period, UWEC scored a power play goal for a 1-0 lead.
Late in the second, AU found themselves on a power play and
Bayley Marshall scored his first collegiate goal with an assist to
Brendan Logan,
The game would remain tied 1-1 heading into the second intermission.
Early in the third (2:57), Spartan
Danny Zielecki scored to give AU their first lead of the year.
Midway through the third, UWEC tied the game with an even strength goal.
At 11:39 of the third, the host Blugolds scored what would be the game winning goal on the power play.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
AU led for the first time in 2016-2017 with a
Danny Zielecki goal early in the second period.
Aurora had 10 penalties for 20 minutes while UW Eau Claire had four for eight minutes.
