The Aurora University Spartan hockey team battled the nationally ranked University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire and fell 3-2. Power play goals once again played a big part in the contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The teams played to a scoreless and even played first period.
Midway through the second period, UWEC scored a power play goal for a 1-0 lead.
Late in the second, AU found themselves on a power play and Bayley Marshall scored his first collegiate goal with an assist to Brendan Logan,
The game would remain tied 1-1 heading into the second intermission.
Early in the third (2:57), Spartan Danny Zielecki scored to give AU their first lead of the year.
Midway through the third, UWEC tied the game with an even strength goal.
At 11:39 of the third, the host Blugolds scored what would be the game winning goal on the power play.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
AU led for the first time in 2016-2017 with a Danny Zielecki goal early in the second period.
Aurora had 10 penalties for 20 minutes while UW Eau Claire had four for eight minutes.
 
FOR THE SPARTANS
Hunter Vorva had 43 saves.
Bayley Marshall and Danny Zielecki scored one goal apiece.
Brendan Logan had an assist.
