AU men defeat Webster 87-73

The Aurora University men's basketball team traveled to Illinois Wesleyan University for an early season tip-off classic and took on the Webster University Gorlocks in the consolation game. AU defeated  Webster 87-73.

RECORDS: Aurora University 2-1 overall; Webster University overall 0-3.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
The two teams battled in a very competitive first half with multiple lead changes.
Webster built an eight point lead in the first half 22-14 with 10:14 seconds left in the half.
Ben Bowen registered his first points as a Spartan and knocked down four first half three pointers to ignite the Spartan offense.
Heading into halftime, AU led by two 41-39.
The first part of the second-half saw AU take control and quickly grow an 8 point lead 51-43 with 17:43 left on the clock.
AU grew to its largest lead to 17 points 70-53 with 17:53 to play.
The Spartans maintained control and cruised to a 87-73 victory on the strength of 16 made 3 pointers.

FOR THE SPARTANS
Six Spartans scored in double figures.
Tyler Carlson had a team-high 19 points.
Pat Kramp and Ben Bowen chipped in with 12 points a piece.
Max Vickers and Jovonn Griffin had 10 points a piece.
Marcus Myers rounded out the even scoring with 11 points.
