It took extra time as the Aurora University men's lacrosse team suffered their first loss of the 2016 season on Saturday afternoon at Albion College. AU fell 14-13 in overtime.

Shortly after
Max Matthai gave the Spartans a 2-0 advantage.
Albion answered with two goals and midway through the opening quarter, the game was tied 2-2.
AU tallied three goals in the final 5:15 of the first and led 5-2.
Matt Sammarco scored a man-up goal and an even strength goal as did
Sam Hiss.
In the second, Albion opened with five unanswered goals and took a 7-5 lead.
Sammarco picked up his hat trick to end the Briton run with what would be the only Spartan goal of the quarter.
Heading into halftime, AU trailed 8-6.
Albion continued to take the offense to AU, scoring three of the first four goals of the third quarter.
Spartan
Matt Sammarco had the one AU tally over the first-half of the third quarter.
The Spartans began the comeback in the late part of the third as McNamara (man-up) and
Jason Koziol scored.
AU trailed 11-9 going into the fourth quarter.
Early in the fourth, AU's
JK Torres scored on an assist from
Nick Glaser.
After Albion increased their lead back to two (12-10), AU went to work on offense. Three goals in 3:30 gave AU their first lead since early in the second quarter. McNamara, Sammarco and Glaser lit the lamp for the Spartans.
In the final minute, Albion called a timeout and set up a play that led to the game tying goal and forcing an overtime session.
Albion won the faceoff to start overtime and 1:49 into the four minute period, the Britons scored to win 14-13.
FOR THE SPARTANSMatt Sammarco had five goals.
Trevor McNamara had two goals and two assists.
