The Aurora University women's lacrosse team opened up the 2016 season with a 20-5 blowout win over Kalamazoo College. Five Spartans collected hat tricks as AU out-scored the visiting Hornets 16-1 in the second-half.

HOW IT HAPPENEDKalamazoo scored the first goal of the game 48 seconds into the contest.
Aurora responded with back to back goals at 20:38 and 18:32 to take a 2-1 lead. Goal scorers were
Chloe Madison and
Rachel Cochran with Madison assisting on the Cochran goal.
After a Kalamazoo goal tied the game,
Kenny Hughes and
Andrea Colford collected goals to put AU up 4-2.
The Hornets scored the final two goals of the first half to tie the game 4-4 entering halftime.
Aurora opened up the second half with nine goals in the first 10:47 to take a commanding 13-4 lead.
Kalamazoo scored their fifth and final goal with 17:20 to play in the game.
The Spartan offensive explosion continued as they scored seven more goals to bring about a running clock and a 20-5 win.
