HOW IT HAPPENED

• Lake Forest loaded the bases in the first inning by AU pitcher Vanessa Hartzell got out of the jam without allowing a run.
• The Spartans put two on with two outs in the third but were unable to push across a run.
• In the bottom of the third, Lake Forest broke the scoreless tie with one run on one hit. The run scored courtesy of a lead-off walk.
• Both teams threatened in the fifth, getting two on but neither could manufacture a run.

The Spartan softball team comes on Saturday, May 14 when they play in the 2016 NCAA Softball Regional Tournament in Lake Forest, Illinois. AU will take on loser of the contest between University of St. Thomas and University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with game time scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
