The Aurora University Men's and Women's Track and Field representatives at the 2016 NCAA Division III Championships had an extremely strong showing on Day Two in Waverly, Iowa at Wartburg College.
A pair of Spartans, senior
Talia Sheedlo and junior
Austen Stewart brought home NCAA Division III All-American honors in their respective events. Sheedlo finished fourth in the heptathlon with an AU record score of 4,660 and Stewart finished third in the high jump with an AU record height of 2.07 meters.
In all, AU had six individuals compete in six different events on the day with a pair of Spartans,
Kalmon Stokes (400 meter) and
Bobby Cooks (110 meter hurdles) advancing from the preliminary rounds and will compete for individual All-American and NCAA Championship honors.
The AU track and field program will be represented in three events on the final day of the 2016 Championships with the two All-American finishes in the books.

Men's Track and Field
High Jump
AU had a pair of Spartans compete in the high jump with
Austen Stewart finishing third with an AU record jump of 2.07 meters (6'9.5") to earn All-American honors. Senior
Brian Rudelich finished tied for 13th with a jump of 1.97 meters (6'5.5").
110 meter hurdles
Bobby Cooks won his heat with a time of 14.28. He will run in the 110 meter hurdle NCAA Finals on
Saturday, May 28 at 1:50 pm with a chance for an individual NCAA Championship and All-American honors.
400 meter dash
Kalmon Stokes finished second in his heat with a time of 47.29. He will run in the 400 meter NCAA Finals on
Saturday, May 28 at 2:10 pm with a chance for an individual NCAA Championship and All-American honors. He will also run in the 400 meter hurdle finals at 3:15 pm for a chance to be an All-American in two events.

Women's Track and Field
Heptathlon
Sheedlo finished the seven events in fourth place with a score of 4660 which is an AU record and earning All-American honors. In the three events of day two, she was third in the long jump (5.34m - 654 pts), 16th in the javelin (27.34m - 426 pts) and third in the 800 meter (2:20.62 - 815 pts). On day one with four events, she was second in the 100 meter hurdles (14.92 - 852 pts), tied for fifth in the high jump (1.57m - 501 pts), 18th in the shot put (8.54m - 434 pts) and seventh in the 200 meter (26.22 - 778 pts).
100 meter hurdles
Sheedlo finished seventh in her heat and 13th overall with an AU and NACC record time of 14.53.
100 meter dash
Deterrica Simpkins finished fifth in her heat with a time of 12.18. She finished 17th overall.
