The Aurora University men's lacrosse team will enter the Midwest Conference Lacrosse Conference tournament for the sixth straight season. The Spartans finished the 2016 regular season with a 14-2 overall record and a dominate 6-0 MLC record, while winning the programs fourth consecutive MLC title. The Spartans will host Beloit College on Wednesday, May 4 at 4:30 p.m.
Match-up -
- The Spartans will take on Beloit College in the opening round of the conference tournament. AU defeated Beloit in the regular season 22-8.
All-Time MLC Championship History –
- AU has won the last three MLC Tournaments, 2013, 2014, 2015
- Aurora defeated Concordia University Wisconsin in 2015, 14-11 to win their 3rd MLC Tournament
- Only two schools have won the MLC Tournament in the five previous tournaments, Adrian College (2011, 2012) and AU.
- The four teams in the 2016 field are the same seeds as the 2015 field.

- AU is 7-2 all-time in the MLC tournament.
- Sophomore Trevor McNamara leads the Spartans with 56 goals and 21 assists.
- Junior Jason Koziol comes in the tournament with 53 goals and 32 assists.
- Junior Bailey Smith comes in the tournament with 48 goals and 17 assists.
- Junior Matt Smidlein has been a dominate force in the face off circle going 215-354 with 116 ground balls.
- Freshman Bryce Wallgard has forced 37 turnovers and 25 ground balls.
- In the net for the Spartans, freshman Tyler Lombardi went 11-2 in the regular season with 91 saves.
About MLC Opponents –
- Concordia University Wisconsin comes in as the second seed in the MLC with an overall record of 11-4 and 5-1 MLC. CUW is 1-3 all-time in the MLC tournament.
- The third seed Benedictine University comes in with a 11-4 overall record and 4-2 in the MLC. BU is 0-1 all-time in the MLC tournament.
- Rounding up the tournament, fourth seed Beloit College has a 5-9 overall record and was 3-3 in the MLC. Beloit is 0-1 all-time in the MLC tournament.
Up Next for the Spartans –
- With a victory over Beloit, the Spartans would host the 2016 MLC Tournament Championship on Saturday, May 7 at 1:00 p.m. on Vago Field. AU would host the winner of the other MLC contest between #2 Concordia University Wisconsin and #3 Benedictine University.
