The Aurora University men's lacrosse team will represent the Midwest Lacrosse Conference in the 2016 NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championships. The Spartans received a Pool A berth after winning the MLC tournament championship over Concordia University Wisconsin 13-11.

The Spartans will travel to Albion College (13-4) and take on the Britons on Wednesday, May 11. Game time will be announced on Monday, May 9 for the game in Albion, Michigan. The match-up will be the sixth all-time meeting between the schools (AU is 2-3 all-time) and second in the 2016 season. The teams met on March 19 at Albion with the Spartans falling to the Britons 14-13 in overtime.
The Spartan men's lacrosse program, under the direction of Head Coach
Kylor Berkman, will make its fourth NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championships appearance in the program's sixth season. The first three appearances for AU resulted in AU reaching the Sweet 16 after winning the programs and State of Illinois' first NCAA contest in 2013, defeating Ohio Wesleyan University 13-9 before falling to SUNY - Cortland 14-8. In 2014, AU defeated Adrian College 22-13 before falling to Denison University 11-8. Last season, AU defeated Otterbein University 8-6 before falling to Lynchburg College 19-8.

AU will enter the NCAA tournament with a 16-2 record and having won eight games in a row and are 11-1 since their loss at Albion. The Spartans were the Midwest Lacrosse Conference regular season and tournament champions with a 6-0 regular season record and 2-0 in the MLC tournament.

Matt Smidlein. Koziol has a team-leading 99 points with 59 goals and 40 assists; McNamara has a team-leading 62 goals with 27 assists; Smith has 53 goals and 17 assists while Smidlein has nine goals, 10 assists, 132 ground balls and is 250-of-398 in face-offs. As a team, AU has seven double digit goals scorers and has allowed 8.30 goals per game while scoring 16.99 per game.
