HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first period saw the teams defenses dominate the action with 12 shots on goal combined and a 0-0 score through one.
- AU saw the offense kick into gear in the second and third periods with 16 and 12 shots in the sessions.
- The hard work paid off 6:21 into the second period. A barrage of AU shots was capped off with Drew Doyon beating the Stout goalie and AU led 1-0.
- Doyon picked up assists from Lordanthony Grissom and Rihards Marenis.
- AU and goalie Josh Boyko led 1-0 after two periods.
- Early in the third, AU and Doyon added to the lead. Doyon tallied his second of the night, this time with assists from Tim Faulkner and Ashton Amaya.
- The Spartan defense and Boyko made the shutout hold up as AU won for the first time this season 2-0.
