Njegovan throws AU to solid performance at Chicagoland Championships

The Aurora University men's track team faced their toughest task of the season so far by competing at the illustrious 2017 Chicagoland Track and Field Championship hosted by North Central College. The Spartan men placed 8th out of 19 teams in a stacked field of competition.

Senior Jimmy Baeskens made a statement in the men's 5,000 meter race by breaking his own school record with a mark of 15:36 in an excruciatingly painful performance earning him ninth place in the meet. Junior thrower Ryan Njegovan had yet another phenomenal performance by breaking his own conference shot put record with a throw of 17.44m, which also earned him first place in the meet and is currently the top mark in the nation for Division III. The men's distance medley relay squad composed of freshman Carl Way, freshman Khadeil Ergas, senior Nick Shaw, and junior Anthony Barrios had a gutsy performance placing second in the meet with a time of 10:35.
