Spartans win low scoring affair over Elmhurst

The Aurora University men's lacrosse team played a low scoring defensive contest at Elmhurst College and defeated the Blue Jays 7-5.

HOW IT HAPPENED
AU jumped out to a 2-0 lead quickly with unassisted goals from JK Torres and Joey Lucchesi.
With the Spartans leading 2-1 entering the second, Elmhurst scored a pair of goals to take a 3-2 lead ,
Spartan Corey Segall won the following face-off and found Bailey Smith with the game tying goal which saw AU trail for just seven seconds.
Midway through the second, Torres scored his second of the night to give AU a 4-3 lead heading into halftime.
With the game tied 4-4, Ben Arends scored a man-up goal with an assist from Jason Koziol to take a 5-4 lead.
In the fourth, Arends pushed the AU lead to 6-4 on an unassisted goal at 10:39.
After Elmhurst added a goal to come within one at 6-5, AU held on.
Running out the clock late, JK Torres picked up the hat trick with 45 seconds to play for the 7-5 AU win.

FOR THE SPARTANS
Ben Arends had two goals including the game winning goal in the third quarter.
JK Torres had three goals.
Corey Segall had an assist, 10 ground balls and was 15-of-16 in face-offs.
Tyler Lombardi earned the win in goal with six saves.
