Spartan women knock off Cornell in MWLC action

The Aurora University women's lacrosse team led early and scored the final 16 goals of the game to defeat the visiting Rams of Cornell College 18-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
AU scored first and never looked back in the game when Taylor Arcivar scored 1:12 into the game.
Kenny Hughes scored the first of her three first-half goals on a free position at 25:49.
Cornell would score their only goal of the first half a few minutes later to pull the AU lead to 2-1.
AU scored seven more goals in the half led by three from Kendall Urban and single goals from Lauren Whitfield and Kaylyn Gilmer.
The Spartans went to halftime leading 9-1.
Spartan Kaylyn Gilmer got the second-half scoring started with an assist from Bridget Poidinger.
The running clock was brought on when Kendall Urban scored her fourth of the day with an assist to Kenny Hughes.
Lauren Whitfield added the next two tallies to give her three on the day and AU led 13-1.
Gilmer added her third of the day after a Hughes goal and AU led 15-1.
AU added three more goals from Whitfield, Arcivar and Poidinger to win 18-1.
 
FOR THE SPARTANS
Kenny Hughes had four goals and three assists with three caused turnovers and three ground balls.
Kendall Urban had four goals and one assist with three ground balls and three draw control wins.
Lauren Whitfield had four goals and won four draw controls.
Kaylyn Gilmer had three goals and four ground balls.
Reilly Armstrong earned the win with seven saves.
