The Aurora University softball team continued their winning ways, sweeping Edgewood College 8-0 and 14-1 on Sunday in Wisconsin. AU pitchers allowed just five hits on the day while the offense pounded out 21 and scored 22 runs.

SPARTAN HIGHLIGHTS / HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME ONE
- With two outs in the first Steph Starr doubled and scored on a single from Laura Dierking to give AU a 1-0 lead.
- Starr ignited the Spartans in the third inning, reaching with a one out single. She would score on a Taylor Moore single with Moore scoring on a Josie Bachtell double and Bachtell scoring on a Lauren O'Daniell single and AU led 4-0.
- In the fourth, Starr again was part of the AU offense, this time driving in Elaine Walker for a 5-0 lead.
- With one out in the fifth, Moore walked and Bachtell reached on an error. The two scored on a deep single from Ashley Pittman.
- Spartan pitcher Britni Wilson cruised, allowing only three Eagle hits and no runs with two coming in the final inning.
- In the sixth, AU pushed across an eighth run to bring on the mercy rule. Mandey Shrader led off with a single and she scored on a single from Laura Dierking.
- AU won the six inning contest, 8-0, their 11th win in a row.

SPARTAN HIGHLIGHTS / HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME TWO
- AU scored in four of the five innings in the game with six in the first and five in the fifth.
- With two outs in the first, Laura Dierking hit a two-run home run to open the flood gates. Four runs later including three on a double from Ashley Pittman gave Spartan starter Kaylee Hayton a quick 6-0 lead.
- Mandey Shrader led off the second with a double and scored on a two-run jack from Elaine Walker. After two innings, AU led 8-0.
- As Hayton held the Eagles hitless through three innings, AU was held scoreless in the third inning.
- In the fourth, Abbey Rosenow singled to score Dierking with a run.
- After getting two quick outs in the fourth, AU had a fielding error lead to one Edgewood run and AU led 9-1 after four innings.
- The fifth saw AU score five runs on three hits as Coach McKenzie was able to get many Spartan reserves at bats.
- Anamariah Cajigas hurled the final inning for winning pitcher Kaylee Hayton and the Spartans. Cajigas walked one but struck out the side to secure the 14-1 5 inning win.
