Strong second-half lifts Spartans over Falcons

The Aurora University Spartan men's basketball team used a strong second-half performance on both ends of the court to surge past and defeat the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons 85-80 on Lancaster Court on Tuesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Spartans and Falcons played a tight contest in the first-half with leading for the first 10 minutes but never by more than four.
- In the second part of the opening half, CUW led for a good portion and had the games biggest lead following the final basket of the half, six at 46-40.
- With three minutes gone in the second-half, CUW held an eight point lead, the games largest lead at 52-44.
- AU picked up the intensity on the defensive end and an 11-0 run later led 55-52 (14:15 on the clock) behind five different Spartan scorers.
- The game would see both teams trade leads over the next 4:20 and with 9:55 to go in the game, the score was tied 63-63.
- A pair of free-throws from Spartan Pat Kramp have AU a 65-63 lead and AU would not give that lead up.
- Minutes later, Kramp drained a three and was followed with a steal and score from Marcus Myers and the Spartans led by seven, 73-66 with 6:20 to go.
- From the 6:20 time on, AU never saw their lead get any closer than three, always answering with a basket of their own.
- AU's Matt Dunn hit a pair of free throws with 17 seconds to go and after the defense made a stop against the Falcons, AU was victorious 85-80.

FOR THE SPARTANS
- Marcus Myers had a game-high 21 points with nine rebounds and four assists.
- Max Vickers had 18 points and nine rebounds.
- Pat Kramp had 16 points on four-of-seven shooting from three-point range.
- Matt Dunn had 15 points, five assists and three steals.
