The Aurora University Spartan women's basketball team dropped their season opener to Elmhurst College on Lancaster Court in Thornton Gymnasium on Saturday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The start of the game saw both teams trading buckets as the Spartans took the lead 9-6 after a 4-0 run with 5:22 remaining in the first quarter.
- AU saw their lead disappear as Elmhurst went on a 4-0 run of their own. AU trailed 10-9 with 3:12 remaining in the first quarter.
- The remainder of the first quarter saw both teams continue to swap scores as AU trailed 17-14 at the end of the first.
- AU fell behind 26-20 with 3:37 remaining in the second quarter.
- With 2:37 remaining in the first half AU tied the game 26-26 on two free throws from Bailey Kramer. 
- AU trailed Elmhurst College 29-28 at the end of the first half.
- As the third quarter progressed, AU saw themselves trailing by as much as five and closed the gap multiple times without being able to take the lead.
- AU trailed 40-38 with 2:12 remaining in the third quarter.
- AU trailed Elmhurst 47-40 at the end of the third quarter.
- With 5:33 remaining in the game Alyssa Brems drained a three pointer to end an Elmhurst 15-2 run and AU trailed 55-43.
- The Spartans chipped away but could not quite get the deficit within single digits down the stretch.
- AU fell to Elmhurst College by a score of 67-56.
