AU women jump on MSOE early and knock off Raiders

The Aurora University Spartan women's basketball team used a huge first quarter output to jump out early on the Milwaukee School of Engineering and held on to defeat the previously unbeaten NACC foe 72-60.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Spartans took off to a hot start to lead 24-6 at the end of the first quarter. 
- After trailing 4-3, AU went on a 20-3 run which included a 12-0 run to end the quarter.
- Meija Rabi (9) and Julie Galauner (8) led the scoring in the opening quarter.
- AU quickly expanded the lead into the 20 point range and would lead by 21 (47-26) heading to halftime.
- The Spartans hit a cool spell from the field in the third quarter but maintained the lead heading to the fourth. AU led 55-43.
- With 6:04 to play in the fourth, AU used their final timeout as MSOE cut the Spartan lead down to seven at 58-51.
- Coming out of the timeout from Head Coach Ryan Rebsom, the Spartans scored six unanswered points to push the lead back to double digits. 
- The lead would never get back within single digits and AU won 72-60.

- "I am proud of our effort tonight, we executed the game plan from the get go. Got on them early and had to hang on in the end but battled throughout. I am so proud of this team tonight."

TOP SPARTAN PERFORMERS
- Alyssa Brems had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
- Julie Galauner had a team high 21 points
- Meija Rabi had 13 points and six rebounds
- Adriana Ramirez had 10 points and nine rebounds/.
