Fourth quarter lead disappears in loss to Stars

The Aurora University Spartan women's basketball team lost in heart breaking fashion on Tuesday night, 79-74 to Dominican University.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Spartans came out sluggish on both ends of the court and trailed 10-4 early in the first.
- A 7-0 run led by five Julie Galauner points gave the Spartans an 11-10 lead.
- AU finished the first on a 4-0 run and led 19-14.
- The Spartans used a 14-2 run in the middle of the second to grab a 15 point lead at 35-20.
- After Dominican cut into the lead via the free throw line, AU built the lead back to 14, 44-30 heading to halftime.
- In the third, AU built the lead up to a game high 21 points (59-38) and led 59-44 with free throws again playing a key factor.
- The fourth quarter started slow for AU as then saw Dominican start on a 16-2 run with turnovers playing a big factor in that run.
- Leading 61-60, AU ran off a 6-2 run and led by five with 4:33 to play.
- The momentum had swung the Stars direction as fouls added up for AU and Dominican would head to the free throw line 46 times (29-of-46) while AU went to the charity stripe 21 times (18-of-21) and only eight times in the second-half.
- With the game tied 71-71 and 1:29 on the game clock, a Spartan turnover and foul saw Dominican go on to lead 76-71.
- A three from Julie Galauner gave the Spartans hope, pulling to within two (76-74) with 25 seconds left in the game.
- Trailing by three and with the ball, AU had a turnover end the hopes of tying the contest with 10 seconds to go.

- Bailey Kramer had 14 points, eight assists and six rebounds.
- Meija Rabi had 14 points and seven rebounds.
