In just the first year of the women's hockey program at Aurora University, the Spartans went into the final weekend with a chance to make the Slaats Cup of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association. Those chances though came to an end as AU lost at Finlandia University on Friday evening, 4-1.

- AU found themselves trailing 1-0 just 14 seconds into the game
- Midway through the first, the Spartans trailed 2-0.
- On the power play late in the first period, Spartan Nicole McKernan scored her ninth of the season with assists to Olivia Matson and Lexie Martinez.
- Finlandia added a goal in the second and third periods for the eventual 4-1 final score.
