Goals a plenty as Spartans coast past Illinois College

The Aurora University men's soccer team used an offensive explosion against Illinois College to win 6-1 and get the first victory of 2018.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Spartans struck first in the 8th minute when Henry Zehnal set up a play with a header from across the box allowing Eduardo Carrillo to finish the job to give the Spartans a 1-0 lead.
- AU extended their lead in the 15th minute when the Blue Boys scored an own goal. AU led 2-0.
- In the 24th minute the Spartans took advantage of a cluttered box and extended their lead to 3-0 after Collin Foreman chipped the ball to the back of the net with an assist from Xavier Ortiz.
- The Spartan fun continued after Andrew Grabowski scored off of a Blue Boy error in the 35th minute. AU led 4-0.
- In the last minute of the half Jorge Patino booted the ball from deep and found the back of the net to extend the Spartan lead to 5-0 going into the end of the first half.
- AU continued their scoring spree in the second half when Kyle Seymour scored on header after a cross from Henry Zehnal. AU led 6-0 in the 62nd minute.

Next action for the Spartan men's soccer team comes on Friday, September 7 when they travel to Centre College. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m. in Danville, Kentucky as the Spartans play Spalding University.
