The Aurora University women's hockey team took on Trine University in a battle of second-year programs on Friday night at Fox Valley Ice Arena. Despite a late rally, the Spartans dropped game one of the two game series 4-2.

- AU scored quickly in the opening period with
Lexie Martinez scoring on an assist from
Lauren Martel 2:43 into the game.
- Three minutes later Trine scored on a power play to tie the game.
- The Spartans had a 5v3 power play later in the period but were unable to capitalize.Â
- The teams went to the first intermission tied 1-1.
- The game remained 1-1 until late into the second when Trine scored to take a 2-1 lead.
- The third period started with Trine scoring 52 seconds in and leading AU 3-1.
- With just over five minutes to play, the Spartans scored with a scrum in front of the Trine net.
Sadie Parton was credited with the goal with assists to
Lexie Martinez and
Nicole McKernan. After a long deliberation among the officials, the goal was credited to AU.
- Needing a goal to tie, AU pulled goalie
Chiara Pfosi with two minutes to play.
- With 23 seconds to play in the game, Trine scored an empty net tally to seal a 4-2 win over AU.
