The Aurora University Spartan women's basketball team opened the 2019-2020 season with a double-digit victory at Elmhurst College, winning 80-63

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After trailing 3-0, AU ran off a 9-0 run and never trailed again on the night.
- One quarter in, the Spartans led 19-11.
- A Sydni Olson three midway through the second capped a 12-1 AU run and the Spartans led 31-12.
- AU grew the lead and after two Julie Galauner free throws just before the halftime break, AU led 45-22.
- The Spartans got a layup from Karissa King and a three from TyAnn LeGrand to start the third and had the games largest lead at 50-22.
- A 26-12 run to end the third quarter found the Spartans leading by 15 at 63-48
- The Spartan lead hovered around 12 for a good part of the fourth quarter before a three from Karissa King ignited an AU run down the stretch.
- The King three started an 11-3 run.
- AU would defeat the Elmhurst Bluejays 80-63.

 FOR THE SPARTANS
- Julie Galauner had a game-high 22 points with eight rebounds and four assists.
- Karissa King had 19 points and nine rebounds.
- Meija Rabi had 14 points.
