The Aurora University men's hockey team shut out the visiting Vikings of Lawrence University 6-0 on Friday night to remain unbeaten early in the season. The physical contest saw AU score three special team goals with three even strength tallies as the defense and
Josh Boyko gave Lawrence very little offensive chances in the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first period saw the Spartans come out flying with the Vikings trying to play physical to keep pace with AU.
- After numerous chances, the Spartans were able to break the scoreless tie late in the first.
- A beautiful cross ice pass from
Connor Chilton to a diving
Riley Doyon found the back of the net to give AU a 1-0 lead.
Adam Keyes had a secondary assist on the play.
- Just 38 seconds later the Spartans struck again.
Dylan Rauh lit the lamp with an assist going to
Larry Jungwirth.
- AU took all the momentum and a 2-0 lead into the intermission.
- With the Spartans on the penalty kill to start the second, Doyon struck again. His short handed tally gave AU a 3-0 lead 37 seconds into the period. Chilton and
Clay Keeley had assists.
- Shortly after AU went up 3-0, the physical play intensified with numerous penalties leading to players from both sides being sent to the showers early.
- AU found themselves on a 5v3 power play and
Anthony Tzveyn made the Vikings pay. His goal on the power play came at 6:44 with assists to Keyes and
Brayden Sampson.
- The game started to settle in but the Spartans added on to the lead later in the second.
- Spartan
Danny O'Donnell dangled his way through the Viking penalty kill unit and found a wide open
Anthony Yurkins who slammed home the pass. AU led 5-0.
- 1:17 later the Spartans scored again with
Roberts Baranovskis getting on the score sheet. Sampson and Yurkins picked up assists and AU led 6-0.
- Th 6-0 lead held up heading to the third period.
- Penalties were a big part of the third period with Lawrence being given seven penalties with AU being handed four.
- Boyko and the Spartan defense kept the shutout in order as AU won easily, 6-0.
