Spartans roar past Lions with scoring frenzy

The Aurora University women's hockey team opened up the final series of the 2018-2019 season with a 9-0 dominating performance over Finlandia University.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Spartans scored early and what would be often on the night. 1:25 into the game, Lexie Martinez had a loose puck find her stick and she buried it into the back of the Finlandia net.
- With 7:16 left in the first, AU added another tally. Marissa Dunbar picked up the goal as Taylor Sims and Hannah Gwillim had assists.
- AU took the 2-0 lead into the intermission, out shooting Finlandia 15-2.
- The Spartans broke the game open early in the second, scoring three times in a span of 1:24.
- Macey Horbach, Sadie Parton and Lexie Martinez scored the goals.
- A power play goal from Brenna Hannon with assists from Jordan Thoma and Aly Pomillo gave the Spartans a 6-0 lead heading to the second intermission.
- In the third, AU scored three more times with goals from Dunbar, Hannon and Nicole McKernan with Sadie Parton picking up a pair of assists.
- Spartan Chiara Pfosi had 16 saves for the shutout win.
