HOW IT HAPPENED
- AU fell behind Lake Forest 2-0 as the hosts scored twice in the first 2:05 of the contest.
- After settling in, AU cut into the deficit with a Liam Stirtzinger tally with 5:17 to go in the first period. Dylan Rauh and Lordanthony Grissom had assists on the play.
- Late in the first, Lake Forest scored a short-handed goal.
- AU trailed 3-1 after one period.
- Early in the second the AU power play struck. Lary Jungwirth scored the goal and was assisted by Roberts Baranovskis.
- The game remained 3-2 until late in the third period.
- With an empty net for an extra skater, AU saw the Foresters corral a loose puck in their end and it would find the back of the empty net for the final 4-2 score.
