The Aurora University baseball team opened up the spring trip in Tucson, Arizona with a doubleheader sweep of Wabash College.

SPARTAN HIGHLIGHTS - GAME ONE
- The Spartans jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first with
AJ Gill scoring on a
Paul Dobravec double.
- AU six runs in the third to take a 7-0 lead.
AJ Gill provided a two-run double to do some of the damage in the inning.
- After Wabash scored twice in the bottom of the third off Spartan starter
Kyle Blunt, AU added another run. The damage could have been much worse as the Spartans loaded the bases with no outs.
- Two more AU runs scored in the fifth thanks to base on balls from Wabash.
- Heading to the seventh, AU led 10-4.

Jett Wedekind led off the seventh with a single and scored on a
Michael Fidler single.
- Wabash scored four times in the bottom of the inning before Nick Mathey came on to get the final out for the save.
- AU won game one, 11-8.
SPARTAN HIGHLIGHTS - GAME TWO
- AU took a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the third, thanks to a defensive miscue that was followed by a
Michael Fidler three-run home run.Â
- Wabash chipped away at the AU lead, scoring runs in the fourth, sixth and two in the seventh to send the game to extra innings.
- The Spartans then found themselves down 5-4 going to the bottom of the ninth.
Cole Davis led off with a double and scored the tying run on a
Colin Rivard one-out single.
- AU relievers,
Drew Marovich and
Nick Malmberg left two Wabash runners stranded in each of the 10th and 11th innings.
- In the bottom of the 12th, AU got the offense clicking. With two outs,
Davis Purviance and
Jett Wedekind drew walks. Purviance would score the winning run on an
AJ Gill single and AU was victorious 6-5.Â
