The Aurora University baseball team started off slowly in a NACC doubleheader with Edgewood College but fought their way back in game one to a 7-6 win and then got a strong performance from
Kyle Blunt and early offense for a 7-0 game two victory.

SPARTAN HIGHLIGHTS - GAME ONE
- An error and two hits saw Edgewood jump out to a 2-0 lead in the first.
- AU found themselves down 4-0 in the fourth inning.
- The Spartans crossed the plate twice in the fifth and left the tying run on base as they trailed 4-2 heading to the sixth.
- In the sixth, a two-out two run triple saw the visitors lead AU 6-2.
- Doubles from
Davis Purviance and
Jett Wedekind and a Edgewood error allowed AU to score two runs and pull to within two at 6-4.
- In the eighth the Spartans went back to work on offense. Run scoring singles from
Jeff Mayes and
AJ Gill tied the game. When Wedekind connected on his second double of the day, AU led 7-6 when Mayes scored.

Nicholas Mathey came in for the ninth and his ninth save of the year as
Seth Gutknecht earned his second win of the year.

- After a scoreless first inning, the Spartan bats came alive in the second. AU scored six runs on five hits with a run scoring double from
Bryan Larsen and two run single from
Jacob Bachio being the big hits of the inning.
- Spartan starter
Kyle Blunt allowed just two hits over the first six innings of work as AU maintained their 6-0 lead.
- Bachio was the main factor for the offense in the sixth as he reached on a hit by pitch, stole second and with one out scored on a single from
Austin Wiskow.
- Blunt gave way to
Michael Fidler in the eighth and Fidler and
Caleb Poffenberger made sure the shutout stayed intact as AU won 7-0.
