Classic MLC Tournament final finds Spartans on losing end

The Aurora University men's lacrosse team found themselves in the Midwest Lacrosse Conference Tournament final once again on Saturday afternoon. In an evenly played contest, the Spartans fell just short, losing 9-7.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- A low scoring, defensive dominated first quarter ended with a 1-1 score. AU's lone goal coming from Josh Boyko on a Kellen Moczynski assist.
- Unassisted goals from Joseph Dey and Jameson Morrison gave AU a 3-1 lead midway through the second quarter.
- CUW was able to tie the game before Harrison Canaday regained the lead late in the half.
- Heading to halftime, AU was tied with CUW 4-4.
- The third quarter saw Canaday and Braden Toll score for AU but a pair of man-up goals for CUW allowed the home team to take a two goal lead to the fourth.
- 4:15 into the fourth, Canaday scored to bring the Spartans within one at 8-7.
- CUW scored the final goal of the game with 9:07 to go and AU fell 9-7.
