Three goal third rallies AU to a tie

The Aurora University men's hockey team scored three goals in the third period to rally and then tie with Trine University 3-3 in overtime on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Spartans controlled much of the first period but Trine was able to put a loose puck past Josh Boyko late in the period to lead 1-0.
- Early in the second period the Spartans had a two-man advantage for 1:58 but just missed several prime chances to tie the game.
- With 6:35 left in the second, Trine again took advantage of a loose puck in front of the AU net. 
- After 40 minutes, AU trailed 2-0.
- Early in the third and on another two-man advantage, the Spartans struck. Drew Doyon lit the lam.p with assists from Connor Chilton and Brayden Sampson.
- After killing off a second major penalty in the game, Trine added a goal to go up 3-1 with 7:10 left 
- The AU power play struck for a second time minutes later.
- The 10th Trine penalty of the game saw AU pull back within one. Liam Stirtzinger buried his shot with helpers from Roberts Baranovskis and Danny O'Donnell.
- With an extra skater on the ice and Boyko on the bench, AU tied the game with 1:43 to play.
- Connor Chilton got the equalizer with Baranovskis and Sampson getting assists.
- The game would go into overtime with the game remaining knotted at 3-3.
- Both teams had chances in overtime but the game would end in a 3-3 tie.
