The Aurora University women's hockey team defeated Trine University on the road in an important NCHA series opener, 3-2 on Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Spartans trailed 1-0 midway through the first period.
- With 8:48 to play, AU tied the game with Lauren Martel scoring with assists from Taylor Sims and Olivia Monzel.
- The game headed to the first intermission tied 1-1.
- Less than a minute into the second the Spartans found themselves down 2-1.
- AU headed to a 5 minute power play shortly after tying the contest.
- With seconds left on that power play AU struck to take the lead.
- Marissa Dunbar got the eventual game winning goal. She was assisted on the goal by Sadie Parton and Nicole Mckernan.
- The AU defense and Chiara Pfosi made the 3-2 lead hold up.
- AU won their 12th game of the season, 3-2.
