The Aurora University women's basketball team fell in a physical senior day contest with Concordia University Chicago 71-68 but senior
Meija Rabi surpassed 1,000 career points and the Spartans keep on playing as they advance to the NACC Tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The game was uptempo from the start with AU leading early before seeing the game tied 10-10 with 4:15 left in the first.
- Over the final four minutes, AU out scored CUC 11-3 behind nine
Julie Galauner points.
- AU led 21-13 after one.
- The second quarter saw AU start slow and CUC took a lead by 7 with 3:10 to go at 34-27.
- AU finished the quarter on a 4-0 run though to be within three heading to half.
- Galauner had 16 first-half points with 10 coming from the free throw line.
- The Spartans continued on their end of the first-half run and started the third with an 11-0 run and led 42-34 midway through the third.
- During the run, senior
Meija Rabi went one of two at the free throw line with 5:47 left in the third. It was that one make that allowed her to reach 1,000 points in her four seasons as a Spartan. She becomes the 11th member of the women's basketball 1,000 point club.
- A three point play from
Sydni Olson gave AU an 11 point lead (49-38) with 2:29 to go.
- After three, AU led 52-43.
- With 5:50 to go in the fourth, AU maintained the lead of 11 at 58-47.
- It was then during free throw shots that the visiting coach got the ears of the zebras and momentum started to swing.
- A turnover and two quick foul calls on Galauner fueled a CUC comeback to get within four at 58-54.
- AU pushed the lead back to nine at 63-54 with 3:30 to go.
- Six Spartan turnovers on their next seven possessions though allowed CUC to go on a 16-3 run and lead 70-66.
- AU was not done though as a quick layup from Olson cut the gap to two.
- After one made CUC free throw, Galauner had a good look from about 15 feet behind the three point line as the buzzer went off but drew iron.
- AU fell 71-68 but lives to play another day.
