The Aurora University baseball team opened their 2020 trip to central Florida for the Russmatt Invitational and defeated Illinois College 12-2 in seven innings.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS -
- The Spartans jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first with a Josh Reinhardt single and he came around to score three hitters later on a Dylan White ground out.
- In the second, AU added a pair of runs wth Reinhardt driving in Colin Rivard and Justin Sartori.
- With starter Kyle Blunt keeping the IC hitters quiet, the AU bats went back to work in the third.
- The third saw AU score seven times behind five hits and three free passes. AJ Gill drove in a pair of runs in the frame.
- IC scored a run in the fourth but the Spartans responded right away in the top of the fifth.
- A one out walk to Gill saw him eventually come around to score on an infield error off the bat of Paul Dobravec.
- Leading 11-2 going to the seventh, Gill again led off with a double and gave way to Blake Milburn who came on to pinch run. Milburn would later score on a wild pitch.
- The Spartans would win 12-2 in seven innings with the 10-run mercy rule coming into play.
