The Aurora University baseball team suffered their first loss on their 2020 trip to central Florida for the Russmatt Invitational on Monday afternoon while splitting the day's contests..

GAME HIGHLIGHTS - St. Joseph's College Maine
- The Spartans took an early lead with a run in the first. Jett Wedekind singled with one out and came around to score on a Dylan White ground out.
- AU starter carter Turnquist allowed just two hits over the first five innings as the score remained 1-0.
- In the bottom of the fifth the AU offense came to life in a big way, aided by walks and hit by pitches. 
- The Spartans scored six times on two hits with a two-run double from Justin Sartori being the big hit of the frame.
- AU added a run in the sixth with Austin Wiskow leading off with a walk and scoring later in the inning on an AJ Gill sacrifice fly out.
- A pair of doubles from Corey Vondra and Sartori added another run in the seventh as the Spartans now led 9-0.
- SJCM would score three times in ninth but AU won easily, 9-3.

GAME TOP PERFORMERS - St. Joseph's College Maine
- Justin Sartori was three for four with two doubles, two runs batted in and one run scored.
- Carter Turnquist earned the win, pitching seven innings, allowing no runs and striking out three.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS - Saint Vincent College
- The Spartans scored again in the first inning with Josh Reinhardt leading off with a single and scoring later in the inning on a Dylan White single.
- Saint Vincent was able to tie the game with two hits in the bottom of the frame.
- AU starter Nick Malmberg settled in as the game remained 1-1 through five innings.
- In the sixth, the Spartans took back the lead. A lead-off walk to White was followed by singles from Justin Sartori, Colin Rivard and Jacob Bachio. Corey Vondra followed with a sac fly out and AU led 3-1.
- SVC got a pair of singles and then advanced on several wild pitches from new AU pitcher Seth Gutknecht. 
- Heading to the seventh, the game was tied 3-3.
- Both teams left runners on in the eighth inning but the score remained 3-3.
- AU threatened in the ninth but came up empty and Josh Reinhardt came on in the eighth, helped push the game into extra innings.
- In the 10th, AU loaded the bases with no outs but were unable to score.
- AU would strike in the 11th though. With one out, a single, two walks, two hit Spartans and a sac fly scored two and the Spartans led 5-3.
- The Spartans and Reinhardt got the first two outs in the bottom of the 11th. A two-out single was followed up by an infield error, an infield single scored a run and SVC was down one with two on. A single would score two more runs and AU fell for the first time in 2020, 6-5 in 11 innings.
