Huge first period lifts Spartans to sweep of Finlandia

The Aurora University men's hockey team scored four first period goals to defeat Finlandia University 6-3 in the second game of the weekend series.

How it happened
- The Spartans opened up the scoring with a pair of goals just 22 seconds a part at 6:07 and 6:29.
- Simon Boyko scored the first goal with Andrew Lane scoring seconds later.
- At 10:14 and on the power play, Jack Jaunich scored. Jaunich had assisted on the first two goals.
- The first period Spartan scoring frenzy continued at 16:22 with Roberts Baranovskis scoring the eventual game winning goal. Nate Keeley and Sam Harris had the helpers.
- AU led 4-0 going to the first intermission.
- The second period was just as high octane.
- Finlandia scored two goals to cut the AU lead to 4-2.
- With 4:27 left in the second, Matt Weber scored while shorthanded.
- After another Finlandia goal, AU struck again.
- With 35 seconds left, Gio Procopio scored what would be the final goal of the game. LA Grissom assisted for the third time in the game.
- The third period was scoreless with AU winning 6-3.
