Boyko blanks Foresters as Spartans remain unbeaten

The Aurora University men's hockey team got a late third period goal to rise above the Foresters 2-1 in home non-conference contest Sunday afternoon.

How it happened
- AU went to the power play 3:05 into the game and while on the extra man advantage, the Spartans struck.
- Derek Budz scored the power play tally at 15:54 of the first with helpers from Jack Jaunich and Shawn O'Malley.
- The Spartans dominated the first period and were peppering the Forester goalie with many quality shots.
- Heading to the second power play of the game with 8:05 left in the first, the Spartans made quick work, scoring 27 seconds into the extra skater.
- Adam Keyes put AU up 2-0 with Riley Doyon and Larry Jungwirth havig assists.
- Just 50 seconds later, AU went up 3-0. Jack Jaunich scored the even strength goal with an assist from Simon Boyko.
- Josh Boyko stopped all shots sent his way as AU led 3-0 after one period.
- The second period was evenly played with Boyko and his defense keeping the blank sheet and leading 3-0.
- AU went up 4-0 2:59 into the third with Nate Keeley firing a shot past the Foresters. Rob Baranovskis and Dylan Rauh had assists.
- The Spartans would maintain the 4-0 lead and go on to win.
- AU was two out of five on the power play on the night while going three for three while being shorthanded.
- Boyko stopped all 27 shots sent his way for the shutout win.
