Spartans rise above Foresters in home thriller

The Aurora University men's hockey team got a late third period goal to rise above the Foresters 2-1 in home non-conference contest Sunday afternoon.

RECORDS: Aurora University 4-0  overall; Lake Forest College 2-1 overall

How it happened
- AU fell behind Lake Forest 1-0 as the Foresters scored 4:52 into the contest.
- With 4:16 left in the first period, the Spartans tied the contest with a goal form Jack Jaunich. He was assisted by Adam Keyes and Riley Doyon
- AU and Lake Forest remained tied 1-1 going into the first intermission.
- Both AU and Lake Forest had scoring chances but the respective goalies of AU's Josh Boyko and his Forester foe stood strong and kept the game tied through the second period.
- The Spartans took a 2-1 lead with 9:55 left to play in the third period when Derrick Budz scored on an assist from Connor Smith
- Lake Forest pulled their goalie for an extra skater with a minute left to play.
- With a Spartan penalty and Foresters extra skater, AU faced a 6v4 for the final 48 seconds, but were able to keep Lake Forest from finding the back of the AU net. 
- The Spartans would go on to win 2-1.
