Spartans cruise past Cougars

The Aurora University women's basketball team scored early and often on Friday evening in Thornton Gymnasium to defeat the visiting Cougars of Concordia Chicago 90-66. Four Spartans scored in double figures led by 24 points from guard Crystal Rios and 16 from guard Julie Galauner.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- A pair of baskets each from Crystal Rios and Julie Galauner in the first 2:11 pushed AU to an 8-2 lead.
- This fast start allowed the Spartans to never trail in the contest.
- A Rios three with 3:44 to go in the first pushed the Spartan lead to 23-12.
- After one quarter, AU led 23-18.
- CUC managed to get within three early in the second quarter but a three from Elle Wolff shut the door on any chance for the visitors.
- Several baskets from Galauner and Victoria Perry expanded the AU lead to 15 as the teams went to halftime.
- Spartans led CUC 46-31 going into intermission.
- Midway through the third, a Sam Barrett three pushed the AU lead over 20 for the first time.
- The Spartans led by 15 after three quarters, 62-47.
- A 16-3 AU run in 3:30 gave AU a 26 point advantage midway through the fourth.
- 32 points would be the largest Spartan lead after a Perry three.
- AU walked away with a 90-66 victory.
