Spartans win big in NACC Tourney

The Aurora University women's lacrosse team hosted Benedictine University Wednesday evening for the first round of the NACC Tournament. The Spartans defeated the Eagles 23-1 to advance to the NACC Tournament Final against Concordia University Chicago on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Spartans jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead with goals from Danielle Cobbett, Monique Gibson, and Jalyn Yaukovitz.
- The Spartans would make it 4-0 seven minutes later when Gibson scored her second goal of the game.
- Midway through the half Spartans Claire Carlson and Cobbett would add another pair of goals to make it 6-0 Spartans.
- The Spartans rattled off another quick four goals two of them coming from Marina Kanner, and the other two scored by Gibson and Yaukovitz.
- Benedictine scored their lone goal of the game with four minutes left in the half.
- Spartans Taylor Sims scored the final goal of the half to send the Spartans into halftime with a 12-1 lead.
- The Spartans came out hot in the second half with three goals in the first five minutes from Carlson and Ellie Blake.
- Spartan Emma-Lee Martel scored for the Spartans with 24 minutes left to extend the lead to 16-1.
- Spartans Kara O'Connell and Bailey Simpson got in on the scoring action to stretch the lead to 21-1.
- Kanner scored the final goal of the game with three minutes remaining.
- Spartans win 23-1.
