The Aurora University women's hockey team opened the 2022-2023 season with a bang, scoring 25 seconds into the game and roaring to a 6-1 victory over Chatham University.

-Â A wild first 20 minutes started off quick as AU scored just 25 seconds into the season with
Peyton Elliott scoring off assists from
Ava Eid and
Darci Matson.
- About eight minutes later,
Liza Davies scored her first collegiate goal with an assist from
Bethany Koman and AU led 2-0.
- Just 50 seconds after, Chatham had a bouncing puck find its way past AU goalie
Samantha Steciak for a 2-1 score.
- Elliott scored her second of the game at 14:15 with an assist from
Makenna Brownlee.
- As the one minute remaining announcement was being made over the rink sound system,
Darci Matson scored for a 4-1 AU lead. Koman assisted for the second time on the night.
- AU took a 4-1 lead to the first intermission.
- After a scoreless second period of play, AU got back on the scoresheet in the third.
- Three minutes in Allyson Richards scored her first of her career with an assist from
Ellie Visser and
Olivia Buzzelli.
- Late in the third,
Marisa Trevino got in on the scoring fun, slamming home a rebound on a
Haley Knauf shot. Knauf and
Ava Eid got the assists.
- AU won 6-1.
