Three goal third lifts Spartans over Lions

The Aurora University men's hockey team returned home to the Fox Valley Ice Arena and scored three power play goals and four unanswered to defeat the Lions of Finlandia University 5-1.

How it happened
- The Spartans went to their first power play 5:41 in to the first period and promptly took advantage.
- 1:28 into the man advantage, Matt Weber scored with assists from Hassan Akl and Adam Keyes.
- AU would dominate play in the opening 20 but only led 1-0 going to intermission.
- Two penalties on the Spartans early in the second proved costly as Finlandia tied the game with a power play goal 6:54 into the second.
- Special teams continued to be the name of tonight's game with AU scoring on the power play late in the second.
- Jacob Brockman scored the power play goal with assists from Akl and Dane Hirst.
- AU took the one goal lead to the second intermission.
- Early in the third the Spartans struck twice and just 26 seconds a part.
- Hassan Akl scored his first of his career at 2:12 of the third with assists from Jake Code and Giovanni Procopio.
- Code then found the back of the net 26 seconds later at 2:38 with a Tyler Pang helper.
- About five minutes later and on another power play, the Spartans scored fast.
- Jack Jaunich scored from Tyler Pang seven seconds into the extra skater for the 5-1 AU lead.
- AU would go on to win by that 5-1 score.
