Spartans tie Foresters but drop point in shootout

The Aurora University men's hockey team took the road for their conference matchup against Lake Forest College. The Spartans would tie the Foresters 3-3 but fall in the shootout 2-1 for the extra conference point.

How it happened
- 3:22 into the first period, a power play led Jack Jaunich to find the back of the Forester net to give the Spartans a 1-0 lead.
- With 3:04 left in the first period, the Foresters find the AU net to tie the game 1-1.
- 3:29 into the second period, Matt Weber scores to break the tie and give the Spartans a 2-1 lead.
- About five minutes later (8:35) in the second period Clay Keeley slaps a shot in the back of the Foresters net that gives the Spartans a 3-1 lead.
- With 7:22 left in the second period, the Foresters cleaned up a deflected shot into the AU net to cut the Spartan lead to 3-2.
- AU carried the 3-2 well into the third period.
- 3:13 left in the third period, the Foresters capitalized on a power play to tie the game with the Spartans 3-3.
- The Spartans and Foresters would end the third period 3-3 and head to overtime.
- Neither the Spartans nor Foresters could score in overtime and head to a shootout.
- The Spartans would come up short to the Foresters in the shootout as AU fell 2-1 for the extra conference standings point.
