Late goal sends Spartans to tie but drop point in shootout

The Aurora University men's hockey team hosted the Foresters of Lake Forest College Saturday afternoon for a NCHA conference match-up. For a second consecutive night, the matchup finished in a shootout. AU and Lake Forest tied 5-5, but the Spartans fell in a 2-1 shootout for the extra conference point.

How it happened
 - AU fell behind Lake Forest 1-0 as the Foresters scored 11:03 into the contest.
 - With 3:30 left in the first period, the Spartans tied the contest with a goal from Anthony Yurkins. He was assisted by Lukas Sedlacek and Kyle Schroeder. 
 - 39 seconds later, Spartan Jaden Condotta found the back of the Foresters net on an assist from Hassan Akl. 
 - AU took the one goal lead to the first intermission.
 - Early in the second, Lake Forest tied the game with a power play tally. 
 - Once again, the Spartans scored back to back goals to take a one goal lead over the Foresters. 
 - Jacob Brockman scored midway through the period on an assist from Jake Code.
 - Less than a minute left on the clock, Matt Weber scored a power play tally to give the Spartans a 4-2 lead heading into the second intermission. Hassan Akl and Adam       Keyes recorded the assists. 
 - Lake Forest wasted little time scoring 44 seconds into the third, pulling the Foresters back within one.
 - AU responded with a power play tally off the stick of Matt Weber with a Jacob Brockman helper. 
 - The Spartans led 5-3 midway through the third period.
 - Lake Forest would tie the game 5-5 with back to back even strength goals and the game headed into overtime. 
 - AU outshot Lake Forest in the overtime session, but were unable to find the back of the net.
 - The game went into a shootout.
 - The Spartans would come up short to the Foresters in the shootout as AU fell 2-1 for the extra conference standings point.
