Late goals lift Spartan women to road win

The Aurora University women's hockey team took to the road for a non-conference matchup against Bethel University. The Spartans got a pair of late goals to rise above Royals in game one of the series

How it happened
    - The Spartans and Royals played to a scoreless first period with AU outshooting Bethel 17-4.
    - Less than two minutes into the second period, Bethel found the back of the AU net to take a 1-0 lead over the Spartans.
    - Eight minutes later, Spartan Madison Gasper scored on an assist from Marisa Trevino to tie the game 1-1. 
    - Early in the third period, the Spartans took advantage of a Royal penalty. Darci Matson scored an unassisted power play tally to give the Spartans a 2-1 lead.
    - The Royals out shot the Spartans 9-3 in the third period, but were unable to find the back of the AU net.
    - The Spartans were victorious 2-1 in game one of the series.
